First Impressions: Rimmel Matte BB Cream

For a very long time I have wanted to find something that was light on my skin but also had a good amount of coverage. I picked the Rimmel Matte BB Cream up hoping that it this would be the product I had been after.

I have just tired it today and I have to say so far so good! I loved the way it felt on my skin and how light it was but still gave good coverage. It covered the redness around my eyes and nose well and also managed to cover small imperfections. The larger ones were tackled by a good concealer!

I applied the BB cream with my hands so have yet to see how it fairs up against a brush. However, for the time being I like the finish it gives by just using my hands. Also there is no need to wash my brushes!
Before
 After

To finish the look off I applied the Stay Matte powder in translucent. It gives a good matte finish which I like. I hate it when I look too cakey and then the powder starts to set in my foundation which I feels some matte foundations can do. This BB Cream however, gives a really nice finish.

 Final Look '"Pout it"

After 8 hours of wearing the BB Cream, and also baking and driving home from my boyfriend’s house, I was pleasantly surprised by the staying power. It looked just as good as when I applied it!
 After 8 Hours!

Perfect for those days when you just want a natural look with a little bit of coverage!

Haul, from Bath!

Last week I went to Bath to visit the University I will be attending in September. Because the day finished a lot earlier than we had originally planned it only made sense that we went into the city centre and go shopping!

We had decided that we would be going to the Bath Pump Rooms for afternoon tea, therefore we had a good few hours to shop till we drop!

First up was Wallis, this shop we generally go in for my mum. Which is funny I ended up finding something I liked! These ankle boots have a medium heel, they are extremely comfortable to walk in and go with just about anything. They have a buckle, zip and laces! Everything for your fastening needs! These pair of boots were original £45 down to £20, bargain!

This dress is from Fat Face and was only £20 in the sale! I love all of the clothes in Fat Face but have always been put off by the price of the items. When I saw there was a sale however, I jumped at the chance of seeing what they had. The dress is denim with cute little white details. The fabric is so soft and comfy; I feel this will be perfect for both spring and summer! (that saying I’m hoping we will at least get a bit of summer here in the UK!

I then went to Debenhams and had a cheeky splurge from the Urban Decay counter. I couldn’t help but picking up the Naked 3 Palette, the colours are so beautiful. The pigmentation of each eye shadow is unbelievable and they last throughout the day! There was also an offer on throughout the store of 10% off meaning the palette was only £33.30!

The Next place I went was this cute little drugstore. Outside there was a sign which said ‘Bioderma sold here’. I ran in that shop and there were shelves of different bioderma products! Amazing! I just picked up a small bioderma as they did not have any large ones and it only cost me £4.50! Bargain! The lady was so lovely that she even gave me two little moisturiser samples.

Cath Kidston was the final shop, in here I bought a few supplies for Uni. They were all on sale and absolutely beautiful. An A4 notepad, an A5 notepad and then 2 stationary wallets!
I hope you enjoyed this haul!

How to Make Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Icing

How to make Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Icing

My next two blog posts are definitely going to be a hop, skip and a jump out of my comfort zone. Today I spent five hours cooking and baking try new recipes. Something I haven’t done in a very long time. Whilst I was making my first batch of cupcakes it occurred to me that this would make a great blog post!

So I went about setting my camera up to record myself baking.

Top Tip: Never leave your camera in the car over night! Condensation is a bloody nightmare!
After putting my camera in the airing cupboard to dry out I made my Vanilla Cupcakes with Pink & White Vanilla Icing!

Ingredients

Cake Mixture
100g Flour
100g Unsalted Butter
100g Sugar
2 Eggs
Vanilla Extract

Buttercream Icing
100g Unsalted Butter
150g Icing Sugar
1-2tbsp Milk
Food Colouring (optional)

1.      Start off by preheating your oven to 190oC, gas mark 5.
2.    Then put your cake cases onto your baking try.
3.    Next we are going to weigh 100g of butter and 100g of sugar.
4.   Add both of these to a large mixing bowl.
5.     Cut the butter into small pieces as this will make it a lot easier to mix. Also the butter should be at room temperature so it is nice and soft!
6.     Then, using an electric mixer whisk the two ingredients for about 5-7 minutes. Until it is light and fluffy. It should also be pale in colour.
 7.     Next, weigh 100g of Self-Raising flour I like to use McDougalls Extreme Sponge flour!
8.    Add 2 cracked eggs to the mixture along with 2 tablespoons of the flour.
9.     Whisk thoroughly together.
10.  Add two drops of vanilla extract.
 11.  Then sift the rest of the flour into the mixture.
12. Fold the flour in using a metal spoon. You should draw a figure of 8 to do so.
13.Then, divide the mixture into the cupcake cases.
14.Place into the oven and cook for 15-20 minutes. They should be slightly browned on top and springy!

To make the icing Sugar

1.      Weigh 100g of Unsalted butter.
2.    You then need to whisk this for 10 minutes. This is the most important step as it will make the butter very pale, almost white, and also very thick.
3.    You will then need to add a small amount of icing sugar at a time. Generally I do not weigh the icing sugar as it really comes down to judgement.
4.   Once you are halfway through you can then add any food colouring you like.
 5.     Then place the mixture into a piping bag and pipe your cupcakes!

And that is all! I hope you enjoyed this blog post. It was slightly different to my normal posts. I really enjoyed making these cupcakes, even if the icing part was particularly difficult, but practise makes perfect!

Check out the videos below where I show you how to make the cupcakes! Also they were my first ever Youtube videos, so if you could take a look that would be great!

Part two video coming soon!
