Urban decay – Naked Smoky Palette – First impressions & Review

I finally got my hands on the Naked Smoky Palette by Urban Decay last week. The beautiful palette embossed with smoke sets it apart from the pervious ones. On opening the box I am happy to see the palette is reflective of the outer packaging. The box like feel and the smoke over the top makes it seem very expensive and posh – and I love it!

Opening it I am stunned. The colours are beautiful and I love that there is a side for the shimmer colours and then the other side is the matte colours. I swatched each of the colours and they are extremely pigmented and super soft and creamy. I also really like the brush that it comes with, more so than the one that came with the Naked 3 palette, this one is perfect for blending and also making a deeper and daker crease.

I have yet to try all of the colours properly but I have tested some of the shimmer colours and I absolutely love them. I got stuck in a funk of just using matte shades with a natural look but I love that I can now use these shimmer and matte colours together to create interesting looks.  The look I created included the colour Armor, High, Smolder and Black Market. The look is a dark smoky eye – obviously – and I love how it has turned out. I do not normally do such a dark smokey eye but I love it!

I think it is safe to say that I may have found my new favourite palette!!!

Mini Make Up Haul

The swipe of the mascara brush, the smoothness of the powder and the – oh wait what’s that? Everything has run out? This is what happens to me ever 6 months or so. Slowly everything – at the same time – will run out and I mean EVERYTHING.

FOUNDATION

My foundation, Double Wear Light from Estee Lauder, has ran out and this is one I am glad to have used up because the shade was too dark for me in these winter months, annoyingly the shade I was using was Intensity 1.0 and there was only one other shade that I could try. Intensity 0.0, the lightest shade, luckily was the one for me. I have yet to purchase the product as I picked up a couple of sample pots and they have latest quite a while.

CONCEALER

I normally purchase the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, but I get slightly frustrated when I get to the end and the product in the bottom of the bottle does not come out. Therefore I wanted to try something different, I decided to test the Urban Decay Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in the shade Fair Neutral I have been testing this product for a about a week and I have been loving it. It does not have as much coverage as the MAC one but I prefer it as it gives the coverage that I need without creasing under the eye.

POWDER

The powder that I use on an everyday basis and swear by is the MAC Studio Fix Powder, I hate it when I hit pan. The beautiful powder swiping away to reveal the metal underneath is not something I am a fan of. Therefore I like to pick one up as soon as this happens for a back up.

MASCARA

The mascara I have been using is the Roller Lash by Benefit, and whilst I have loved using this I wanted to try They’re Real by Benefit because I used to love it and I wanted to compare the two and find out which one I preferred.

SETTING SPRAY

I used to use the Urban Decay all nighter Setting Spray, when it ran out I didn’t buy another because of the Water Primer by Smashbox that I was using but I wanted to get it again because I loved the staying power of this setting spray.

I hope you enjoyed this mini refresher haul! What things to you constantly run out of?
