The 10 Minute Make Up Challenge

Finally, I decided to try my hand at the 10 minute make up challenge. I know that I am very late to the bandwagon with this video and it's a few years out of date but never mind! If you click on the video, there is the make up I've used in the down-bar. I really enjoyed this challenge, and I tried to be as true to what I would wear on an everyday basis!

I hope you enjoy the video!

Dr Botanicals Skincare*

*All opinions are my own*

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely people at Dr Botanicals, to see if I wanted to test a few pieces from their new Moroccan Rose range. I always enjoy working with skincare brands as I find my skin can get used to products very quickly and therefore I need to change it quite a lot.

I received the Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil and the Moroccan Rose Natural Facial Moisturiser. When they arrived they came packaged beautifully in a brown box with explanations of each. Both feel very luxurious and have a very simple design and logo. I’d heard of the brand before though I had never tried any of their products.

I’ve been using both of these products for the past few weeks and have been amazed at some of the benefits I have seen from them. Over the summer I find I can get a fair few dry spots, whilst I love my current moisturiser (which you can read about here). I have to say I feel that this particular duo, along with some of my other favourite products, has really helped to clear those patches up.

The oil is lovely, infused with rose which makes it this beautiful pink colour. I apply it before the moisturiser and dab it onto my skin, they state only 3-4 drops is needed but I do find myself reaching for a few more drops to add.

Then the moisturiser, which is simply beautiful. Both products have an amazing scent, which I believe for some people may be slightly over powering. The scent at first is a slight shock, thought after a few uses it’s easy to get used to.

Like with the oil, the moisturiser also has a slight pink tinge to it and is a nicely thick cream. Which I really like, as I feel it really sinks into my skin to help with the dry patches. Whilst comparing the two products I definitely like the moisturiser more, as I worry that the oil has started to cause a few breakouts on my chin. Therefore, I feel that I won’t be continuing with oil until they have cleared up!

The moisturiser I really like and will probably save it for the days when I feel I have super dry skin!

My Haircare Routine | The Video

My haircare routine is something that changed all the time until I found the products I mention in this video. I do have a blog post about it, which you can find here, if you would prefer to read it. However, in this video I also take you through the steps of how I curl my hair! This is actually a very common question I get here on my blog and also on Twitter and Youtube, therefore I thought it best to just bung it all into a video for you all!

I hope you enjoy!

Top Three Breakfasts

I love food. There is no denying that I would do anything for a good, hearty and yummy breakfast in the morning. But since being told I have a gluten allergy it’s been a struggle to find tasty breakfasts to eat. Myself and my mum have completely changed our diet and have seen amazing results from it.

Buying health food books have enabled us to find healthy and yummy alternatives that are able to give us a kick start in the morning. Both our jobs require us to be up early in the  morning so we need energy to last us through until lunch. (Of course there is always time for a little snack in between but that’s another blog post for another time).

So…

#1 Homemade Granola with Greek Yogurt & Raspberries
This is by far my favourite breakfast to have in the morning. It has so much healthy produce in it that helps me to feel awake and also full. The credit does go to my mum though as she is the one who makes it so delicious! Adding raisins and also apricots to the mix when cooking really gives a lovely sweet flavour. On top I like to have greek yogurt with a dash of honey and a sprinkling of Raspberries!

#2 Gluten Free Toast with Nutella & Chopped Banana
Another healthy breakfast with a little bit of something extra! I love to have toast and Nutella, a very simple and easy breakfast to make. Especially when you are in need of something quick before work, school, university etc. The added banana source of fibre is also brilliant to start the day with.

#3 Breakfast Pots
This is a new breakfast I have found and have been really liking it as an alternative to the other two. This is something I go to when I am not overly hungry but am in need of a little pick me up. I start by layering banana’s in the bottom of a jar add a little honey before popping greek yogurt on top. I then add chopped raspberries and strawberries and another layer of greek yogurt. Before sprinkling with sunflower, pumpkin and chia seeds. Then finally a small drizzle of honey to finish it off!

My Everyday Make Up Routine

My everyday make up routine changes all of the time, I love finding new products to incorporate into it and also products which I completely forgot I had. This GRWM video features a Summer Glam edition, therefore I show you what I would class as my 'full coverage' look, and go all out! I love this look as, to me, it still feels a little minimal. And the added touch of sparkle here and there really helps to brighten it.

If you click on the link, then you will be able to see all the products I used in the drop down bar!

Enjoy!

Romeo & Juliet Live @ the Cinema

Last week myself and my mum went to the cinema to watch a live production of Kenneth Branagh’s Romeo and Juliet, live from Garrick Theatre in London. We were extremely excited as a few weeks before we had seen Richard III live, with Ralph Finnes playing the lead role.

Whilst the language is at times confusing, the flawless acting an and scenery contributed to the storytelling. Allowing us to be guided all the way through. Lily James effortless played Juliet, her portrayal was gripping, exciting and altogether heart-breaking. You rooted for Juliet even though you knew it was inevitable for her to die.

Richard Madden plays the dashing Romeo, his acting is captivating. His scenes to die for (quite literally) and his beauty is just amazing to watch. The chemistry the two have is like none other. Perhaps it comes from the two working so closely together in the live adaptation of Cinderella. They know how the other works and because of this the acting does not seem to be acting but instead real life.

The cast is littered with well-known names such as Meera Syal, Derek Jacobi and many, many more. It was such fun to watch – especially in the comfort of a cinema.

Cleverly, this recording and production is set in the 1950’s Verona. Therefore, the clothing and the scenery were all reflective of this. To stay true to this time period the recording was in black and white, taking you back to that time and reliving it as they would have seen it.

The added element of being in a cinema was very fun as many people, ourselves included, took a little picnic to eat during the interval. Many, as we learnt from watching Richard III, take their own wine and glasses to have at this point! It was all very exciting!

The production is one that I would have liked to have seen live but we were unable to get tickets, therefore being able to watch it in our local cinema was just as good!

Next up is the 25th Anniversary of Miss Saigon!

The August Birchbox

I’m going to open this blog post by saying I’m disappointed. Normally there are a fair few products within the box that I can get very excited over and love to see more of. This one I believe, personally, is a mixture of disappointments. Which is such a shame as I really enjoyed the last two boxes.

Firstly, this month we received a bag instead of the normal box. Now, I have complained a few times over the boxes as they just stack up and I rarely use them. However, I have taken to use them in my wardrobe as dividers so am finally making them useful. The problem I have with this bag is that it is in no ways ‘cute’. Then the leaflet telling you all about the products were roughly folded in half and pushed inside the bag as well. The only part of the exterior that tells you it is from Birchbox is the logo on the zip. Otherwise it’s very plain.

Enough rambling onto the products…

#1 Marcelle Eyeliner in Mulberry
I have yet to try this product, so cannot comment on its staying power or pigmentation. It’s the only make up item in the box which leaves me feeling a little sad. It’s a beautiful deep purple colour, but not one that I would generally lean towards.

#2 Balance Me Radiance Face Mask
There are two products within the ‘box’ this month that are extremely tiny and this is the first, I’m sure I’ve received this before in a much larger travel size. I do actually like this face mask however, and for a night away it would be the perfect size to take with me.

#3 Yesto Coconut Cleansing Wipes
This is the other product which is super tiny. It has literally only one wipe inside of it and personally I don’t feel this is enough to test a product and see if I’d be willingly to buy a larger scale. I have received the yesto Cucumber wipes in a box before and really loved them. Even though it was a travel sized edition I still received a good amount of wipes to try.

#4 Anatomicals Body Scrub
I have never heard of this brand so I cannot comment on their products, it’s a very decent travel size and I believe it would be perfect for holidays or little weekends away.

##5 Merci Handy Antibacterial Hand Gel
A mini antibacterial hand gel, which I have to admit is super cute (although it is actually full size). It also has a very nice scent and doesn’t leave my hands feeling too wet or sticky after applying it. It has become a regular in my handbag due to it’s size and it’s a very easy on-the-go product to use.

#6 One More Day Dry Shampoo
My most excited product would have to be this one from Philip Kingsley. I love their products and I have just run out of my Percy & Reed dry shampoo so I am excited to test this one out and see what it’s like.

So there you have it. With my opinion of each months Birchbox changing so rapidly it’s hard for me to see if it continues to be worth it. Time will tell if they can make it any better!
